Spring is officially here, and New Zealand’s property market is showing renewed energy. Last week, Ray White scheduled 152 auctions, up 76.7% from the same time last year, with a clearance rate of 50.4%. On average, auctions had 2.3 registered bidders and 1.7 active bidders, highlighting strong buyer interest.

Ray White head auctioneer Sam Steele says auctions remain a preferred way to sell, attracting unconditional buyers and providing the fastest path to sale — averaging 38 days on market, compared with 64 days for private treaty sales. With listing volumes stabilising, more sellers are turning to auction to make the most of spring’s momentum.
